The Etna, is the largest and highest still active volcano in Europe. According to the last measurements, the Etna showed an altitude of 11,000 feet a.s.l., but its altitude changes at each new important eruption.

It is one of the loveliest resorts of the northeast coast. At the top of a promontory which drops straight into the sea stands the Castle successfully assaulted by Giuseppe Garibaldi on July 1860.
